Sold-Out Crowd at the Charity Match Between Real Madrid Legends and San Martín Veterans
La Ribera stadium in Suances hosted a charity match on April 25 that was about much more than sport. On the pitch, the veterans of S.D. San Martín de la Arena and the Real Madrid Legends team played a solidarity match with a shared goal: to raise funds in support of the Cantabria Cohort project.
The match, which ended 0–4 in favor of the visiting team, stood out for its charitable spirit and the excellent response from the public, who filled the venue in a show of support for biomedical research in the region. Beyond the scoreline, the event highlighted the community’s strong commitment to initiatives that contribute to scientific progress and to improving health and quality of life.
The event featured well-known football figures such as Carlos Alonso “Santillana,” José Antonio Camacho, Martín Vázquez, Luis Milla, Raúl Bravo, and Javi Balboa, whose presence helped draw attention and reinforce the charitable nature of the match.
The initiative sold out within a few days and also offered the opportunity to contribute through a “Fila 0” donation option. In addition, participants could enter a raffle for sports merchandise, further encouraging public involvement. The event raised €5,640, which will be donated to the Cantabria Cohort project.
Beyond the sporting spectacle, the day highlighted the role of sport as a driver of solidarity.
