On Thursday, March 14th, Dr. Marcos López Hoyos, director of Cohorte Cantabria, and Dr. Marta Díaz, coordinator of the same study, participated in the roundtable 'The challenge of healthcare management'. The event, organized by the University Scholarship Network of the Botín Foundation, took place at the Botín Foundation headquarters in Santander.
The roundtable focused on discussing some of the major challenges in healthcare systems, from population changes to digitalization, both in the public and private sectors. The event also featured specialists in the field such as Sara Bustillo, healthcare consultant; Natalia Fernández, Deputy General Director of Prevention, Quality, and Communication at Fraternidad-Mupresa mutual insurance company; and Marisa Tejedor, Technology Transfer Manager at the Botín Foundation, who served as the moderator.
In her intervention, Dr. Díaz emphasized the importance of interoperability among different systems and software applications for effective management of clinical data. Furthermore, she highlighted the paradigm shift that integrating AI into research and healthcare assistance will entail: it will radically transform the way we tackle health challenges, from early disease detection to treatment optimization.
