Why is your collaboration important?
The findings derived from Cantabria Cohort are of great relevance at the:
Individual level
All participants in Cantabria Cohort receive thorough health screenings conducted under the supervision of medical professionals. In the event of detecting any significant (previously undisclosed) abnormalities in their results, our team will promptly reach out to the volunteer. Presently, we are actively diagnosing and providing assistance to participants with conditions such as hepatitis B/C or HIV infections, liver fibrosis, and hematological diseases like anemias.

Social level
Cantabria Cohort is a multifaceted population-based study aimed at advancing Precision Medicine:

Personalised
We gather information on genetic and environmental factors that might impact health status. Analyzing this comprehensive dataset will enable us to understand their role in the varied manifestations of diseases and offer personalized medical care for each patient.

Preventive
The data gathered within Cantabria Cohort will also be leveraged for preventive measures against certain diseases. Implementing strategies such as health education, lifestyle modifications, screening tests, and vaccination campaigns is crucial to enhancing the quality of life in our region.

Predictive
We collect biological samples that undergo techniques for the extensive identification and quantification of the complete set of genes, metabolites, and proteins. These molecules exhibit variability in each individual and may be altered in a specific manner among those who will develop a disease or fail to respond to a treatment. Utilizing bioinformatics, we process this molecular information to create new models for predicting the risk of specific diseases and facilitating their early diagnosis.

Participatory
We are dedicated to a model of medical care that places high value on the patient's opinion and experience. Involving patients in the decision-making process and monitoring of their treatment will unquestionably enhance the clinical approach to each case.
There are other long-standing population studies that, due to their global health impact, have inspired the Cantabria Cohort initiative. Thanks to citizen participation and research efforts in initiatives such as Framingham Heart Study, UK Biobank or China Kadoorie Biobank, essential knowledge has been generated to prevent diseases and develop treatments, contributing to the benefits we enjoy today.
Furthermore, we invite you to explore the Spanish cohort IMPaCT , which has already commenced recruitment. If you receive an invitation, please consider participating!
