Cantabria Cohort Takes Part in the 3rd Seniors’ Fair, Bringing Science and Prevention Closer to the Public

The Santander Exhibition and Conference Centre hosted the 3rd Seniors’ Fair, bringing together people from across Cantabria, from Campoo-Los Valles, Soba, Arenas de Iguña and Ramales to Liébana and Laredo. Cantabria Cohort was present at the Regional Ministry of Health’s stand, where the team had the opportunity to meet and talk with visitors interested in learning more about the project.

As part of the event, our team delivered a talk entitled “Cantabria Cohort: Advancing Towards Personalised Medicine”. We explained how the widespread participation of people from Cantabria is helping to build a valuable resource of data and biological samples, which is essential for understanding why people develop diseases and how these conditions can be prevented or treated at an early stage.

We also ran an interactive activity at the stand, measuring visitors’ handgrip strength using dynamometers. This simple clinical test is highly valuable for quickly assessing muscle health, detecting age-related muscle loss at an early stage, and providing an important indicator of independence and overall well-being as people grow older. The activity sparked the curiosity and interest of many visitors.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, have their handgrip strength measured, and continue to demonstrate our community’s strong commitment to research and health. We’re moving forward together!
